WelcomeWelcome to the first edition of Catalyst the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation's newsletter. Catalyst aims to keep you informed about what's happening in the London Thames Gateway and how LTGDC is working to improve culture, economic development, education and transport in east London. This first edition provides an update on the development of the London Sustainable Industries Park, welcomes Stephen Oakes as LTGDC's new Director of Development, and the announcement of Bouygues to deliver £500m Canning Town Centre regeneration. We are also excited to deliver our Annual Report & Accounts 2008/09 - Transforming Lives, which outlines the contribution we are making to transform east London. 3,300 homes at Barking RiversideLTGDC has given the go-ahead to Barking Riverside Ltd and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham for the first two stages of development comprising 3,300 homes, new community infrastructure and two schools at Barking Riverside. |

The View Tube coming soonWith funding support from LTGDC, the View Tube has been installed on The Greenway. In partnership with the ODA, Leaside Regeneration and Thames Water this educational and community resource will be fully operational in Autumn 2009 offering a programme of activities, café, and that all important view across the Olympic Park and Stratford City. |

Education at the heart of regeneration in east LondonLTGDC provides £500,000 in grants to local schools each year enabling schools to accelerate improvements and benefit from local regeneration. £4.5 million has been spent so far through the education and skills programme reaching a total of 3,500 students in 59 schools and colleges.
